There is a place on the Chobe River in Northern Botswana where tranquillity and beauty mix with raw wilderness; where the immaculate Chobe Bushbuck has sanctuary, and where the Hippo and Crocodile are lords of the domain. This place is Kubu Lodge.
Set on 30 hectares of pristine riverine forest, this small, owner managed lodge epitomises the hospitality of Africa – with a twist of European flavour. Eleven thatched chalets on raised decks are spaciously positioned beneath the spreading canopy of massive trees with expansive lawns extending right down to the river’s edge. Tastefully appointed with hand-picked furnishings, each en-suite chalet provides all the luxuries to enjoy the natural surroundings in comfort.
Dining at Kubu Lodge in the Leathaba Restaurant, each meal is carefully and freshly prepared then savoured el fresco with stunning views over the Chobe River and delightful birdlife for company.
A short drive away is the world renowned Chobe National Park – home to Africa’s single largest population of elephant. Kubu Lodge offers the opportunity to experience this reserve’s amazing wildlife by power boat or safari vehicle. Other activities on offer are: late afternoon cruises to the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi; day trips to Victoria Falls; fishing excursions; visits to a working crocodile farm, and guided tours at the World of Wildlife Bio Diversity Centre – a reptile/snake/bird park.
Kubu Lodge takes its Social Responsibilities seriously and has been intimately involved with the Local Community in various capacities over the last two decades. Kazungula Children’s Ark Support Group – located on the lodge property is a Day Care Centre (pre-school) and Youth Library which has been operational for the last 10 years.
The Botswana tradition of extending a warm welcome to all visitors is proudly continued at Kubu Lodge. The lodge derives its name from the Setswana word for “hippo” a common resident of the Chobe River.
