The Congo Conservation Company (CCC) takes an innovative approach to pioneering eco-tourism in the Republic of Congo. The aim of CCC is to be a conservation actor by providing added value to the Odzala-Kokoua National Park through the development of tourism. With easy direct access through scheduled transfer flights twice a week; Odzala Discovery Camps, established by CCC, consists of 3 privately owned, responsible camps in and around the national park offering 4-, 7- and 10-night Discoveries.

An intact, lowland rainforest characterized by a network of baïs, rivers, marshes and swamps, this vast and truly wild region, with its wide range of landscapes and habitat, is home to an incredible diversity of life. Forest elephant, bongo, forest buffalo and giant forest hog live alongside the greatest density of western lowland gorilla in Africa. This is your opportunity to explore it!

Ngaga Camp is in the Ndzehi Forest on the western boundary of Odzala -Kokoua National Park. Wander the paths of researchers and local communities through the dense marantaceae forests. The main reason to spend time at Ngaga Camp is to track our western lowland gorilla families in small, intimate groups with members of our research team. This is an exceptional opportunity to be welcomed into these gorilla families for a brief moment in time and explore the jungles by their side learning their behaviour.

Located inside the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, Mboko Camp is set along the Lekoli river overlooking open savannah and the characteristic termite mounds. Wade through streams and bais, enjoy boat cruises, river swimming or kayaking, and try to spot the various primates, birds, forest elephants, bongo, forest buffalo and river creatures. Walking through the savannahs, rivers and forests is the opportunity to fully immerse in the Congo Basin and experience its sights, smells, sounds and history.

Lango Camp overlooks across a vast and dynamic baï with easy access to a variety of habitats. Guests are encouraged to explore on foot throughout the natural heritage of the area with forest walks and wading through the baï and river networks. At night, be serenaded by the sounds of elephants as they visit the mineral rich baï on Lango Camp’s doorstep. Discover a place that captures the senses and soul.

The western lowland gorillas are found in tropical lowland forest areas. They are slightly smaller than their mountain cousins. These gorillas are critically endangered due to the risks they face from habitat loss, the bush meat trade and transmission of diseases from humans. The Congo Conservation Company has collaborated with the government to protect habitat and ecologically important resources that benefit these species inside the Odzala-Kokoua National Park. The Congo Conservation Company supports a very successful gorilla research centre at Ngaga Camp which has a significant impact on the survival of this enigmatic species.

The Congo Conservation Company and Odzala Discovery Camps support the Sabine Plattner Africa Charities (SPAC) conservation and community efforts around Odzala-Kokoua National Park. This national park is home to around 80 000 people who rely on the rainforest as their environment, source of food, shelter, and medicine. SPAC follows a comprehensive and sustainable approach to conservation and works to strengthen knowledge and skills in the villages so they become protectors of their own families as well as of the rainforest. Tourism and conservation of the national park creates jobs and each staff salary may feed up to 10 family members. Through tourism, Odzala Discovery Camps is creating job opportunities in the region where barely 10% of the population has a regular income from paid labour.
